Mrs. Mahala Hardin, the oldest person in Washington county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Chesser, near Polin, a few days ago. She was born in Washington county, October 10, 1805, and consequently was over 101 years old. Her maiden name was Shumate and she was married to Steve Hardin. One son, David Hardin, of Louisville, and Mrs. William Chesser, both of whom are aged, are the only near relatives surviving. The old lady was up until about a year ago, very active for one of her age, and was possessed of all her faculties.
