Mrs. Elizabeth Shumate died at her home here, of consumption, aged 52 years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a good Christian woman, who numbered her friends by legions. She will be greatly missed here, where she had made her home for twenty six years. Her sisters, Mrs. Robert L. Slater and Miss Eliza Yeaky, of West Port, Ind. were at her bedside and have our deepest sympathy in their sorrow. She was conscious to the last, and expressed her willingness to go and almost her last words were, "I am happy." The burial occurred in the Lancaster Cemetery, Saturday morning at eleven o'clock in the presence of a large concourse of friends.
A card of thanks. We wish to thank the people of Paint Lick and vicinity for their kindness and never tiring efforts to our sister during her illness, and especially do we wish to thank Dr. Carmon. Their kindness will ever be remembered by us.
Mrs. Robt. L Slater,
Miss Eliza Yeaky
