Philip was the son of John Adam Shoudt and Anna M. Shoudt, whose maiden name is unknown. Philip married twice. His first wife, Alice Buckley, bore him two children: Ethel M. about 1916, who appears to have died young, and William P. in 1920. His second wife was Mary C. Emory.
Obituary from the Easton Express, Dec. 13, 1966, p. 20:
Philip J. Shoudt, a retired lathe operator and carpenter, from Riegel Paper Corp., died last Wednesday, Dec. 8, in Hunterdon Medical Center. He was 76 years old and had been a patient in the hospital 17 days.
Mr. Shoudt retired from the Milford plant of Riegel Paper Corp. in 1945. He lived in Upper Black Eddy, Pa., where he raised chickens and operated a greenhouse.
Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Upper Black Eddy for 32 years.
Survivors include his widow, the former Mary Emory; a son, William, Bryn Mawr, Pa.; a brother, Albert, Philadelphia; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at Johnson Funeral Home, Frenchtown.
