Frank was the son of Christiana 'Annie' Whitman. His father was a Strouse. His mother married Charles Shoudt, who adopted the boy early in Frank's childhood.
Frank grew up in Upper Black Eddy, Bucks Co. He moved to Trenton, Mercer Co., New Jersey as a young adult. He married Anna Mariah 'Rita' Burroughs on Dec. 14, 1910. He alternately worked on the trolleys in Trenton and farmed in Upper Black Eddy.
He became the father to eight children: Charles in 1911, Kenneth in 1912, Harry in 1913, Grace in 1915, Lillian in 1917, Olive in 1919, Frank in 1920 and Wilson in 1922. There was also a ninth child who didn't survive long enough to be named.
For enjoyment, Frank was a square dance caller at Nate's Dance Hall in Upper Black Eddy. He made felt coats and mittens for his children in his spare time. His wife always asked him to complete the French knots on her embroidery.
He died of a heart ailment in Warren Hospital.
He was the grandfather of 23, great-grandfather of 51 and great-great grandfather of 48 as of late 2007.
