Leroy William Shortnacy was born March 22, 1932 in Fort Payne, Alabama. He was the son of Monroe William Eldon Shortnacy and Violet Jane Hunt. Married to Bonnie Jean Kelems on October 7, 1950 in Lepanto, Arkansas. Children Glenda Jean, Kathy LaDonna, Timothy Leroy, Michael William, and Reuben Paul.
My dad was a jack of all trades. There was almost seemingly nothing that my dad could not accomplish. He was an extremely talented mechanic. He could repair anything from a toy, to a vacuum, to my car, a cotton picker, to an air conditioner on a 18 wheeler truck and millions of other things not mentioned!
My dad only went to the 6th grade, but he was very self educated. He invented machinery that was used to harvest plant seeds.
My dad loved to go camping and fishing. He could sit in a small boat or on the shore all day and not catch a fish and still have a great time. This was good relaxation for him.
My dad made many sacrifices for his kids. He was proud of all of us. There was no better dad in the world.
