Clark Russell Short, 62, well known Alma farmer, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 30th in the University of Va. Hospital, Charlottesville after being in failing health for the past two months. Last rites will take place Friday afternoon. Born in the Alma section, near Stanley, on February 27, 1899 he was a son of Lewis M. Short and the late Bertie Campbell Short. He was a member of the Junior Order, United American Mechanics and also a member of the Assembly of God Hilliard's Chapel Church near Stanley. He was united in marriage with Miss Virgie Stroupe, who survives him with one son, Carroll W. Short and one granddaughter. His father, Lewis Short, two brothers, Carl Short of Shenandoah and Cecil Short of Manassas, Va. also survive him as do five sisters, Miss Carrie Short at home; Mrs. Kandas Hoffman of Williamsport, Md.; Mrs. Dorothy Judd of Shenandoah; Mrs. Edna Snegoski of Falls Church and Mrs. Mattie Batman of Stanley. Last rites will be conducted Friday afternoon at two o'clock in the chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Aleshire and the Rev. J.W. Henderson officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
