KEWANEE - Edna F. Chord, 93, a resident of Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria, formerly of Kewanee, died at 1:27 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at the nursing home.
Edna was born July 8, 1914, in the Rushville, Ill., area, the daughter of Obra and Mamie (Ambrosius) Shores. She married Francis Chord on Sept. 7, 1932, and they were married for 51 years. He preceded her in death Aug. 28, 1984.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Stout of Peoria; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Chord of Morris, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Louise (Donald) Stufflebeam of Glen Ellyn, Ill. Also surviving are her granddaughters, Heidi (Mike) Fenoglia of Peoria, Kim (Troy) Oder of Elmhurst, Ill., Candice Scott (John Shoemaker) of Comfort, Texas, Collette Lopez of Wilmington, Ill., Kelly Scroggins of Lumberton, Texas, and Kristen Chord of Morris, Ill.; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert; twin sister, Freida Rohn-Pollack; and sisters, Lucille Torrance and Patricia Davis.
Edna was raised in rural Rushville and a former member of the Rushville Methodist Church. She moved to Kewanee in 1941, where she lived until 1995, when she moved to Peoria. She worked for Montgomery Ward for 37 years. During her time there, she served as the catalog store manager and also was responsible for other management training.
She enjoyed reading, nature and being with her family.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee.
