Services for Leroy Shores, 80, of Albany, who went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, were Saturday at Pine Bluff Baptist Church. Pastor Bruce Smith and Pastor Keith Smith officiated; interment was in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors. Mathews Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

A native of Grady County, Ga., Mr. Shores resided in Albany for 38 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired as chief petty officer, he was a service manager for Electrolux for 18 years, and later had Len's Vacuum Cleaner Shop for 10 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, a member of the Light Keepers Sunday school class, and a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maelene Shores; two sons, Joseph S. Shores of Sylvester, and Gary Shores (Diane) of Dawson; four daughters, Sandra Jones (George) of Albany, Kathy Learn (Lyle) of Albany, Darlene Baker (Kenny) of Dawson, and Stacy Golden (Travis) of Leesburg; a brother, Kenneth J. Shores of McDonough, Ga.; a sister, Hazel Reichert of Locust Grove, Ga.; and 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan Garrett Shores.
