Janet P. Shores of Malvern
Janet P. Shores (nee Bradford), 82, of Malvern, died on Friday, September 2, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness.
She was the wife of the late Ivan L. Rowland, Sr., with whom she shared 23 years of marriage, and the late Charles R. Shores, Jr., with whom she shared 11 years of marriage.
Born in Ridley Park, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary Lilly Bradford.
Janet attended Media High School, Media. Janet was employed by Pantry Pride for many years and Deluxe Check Printers, Paoli, until retiring in 1992. She was a member of the VFW Post 5203, Paoli, and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Frazer, where she served as a Deacon. Janet was a generous and selfless person and always had a smile on her face. She was affectionately known as "Grandma Sweetheart" by her grandchildren and for making the best cheesecake, and potato and chicken salads. Janet's greatest pleasure was spending time with her kids and grand-kids, whether it be boating, going "up country", or traveling. She was a warm spirit and a mother and friend to everyone. She will be terribly missed by her family and friends.
Janet is survived by her children, Lorraine Dobbs (Lee) of Norristown; Elaine DiPiano (Steve) of Malvern, with whom she lived; Ike Rowland (Pam) of Glenmoore; and John Rowland (Lesley) of Malvern; six grandchildren, Adam Dobbs, Tazia Dobbs White, Lindsay DiPiano, Nicholas DiPiano, Courtney Rowland, Megan Rowland, and one great-grandchild, Ava White. Janet was predeceased by two sisters, M. Virginia Mattern and Joan Ciccarelli.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate Janet's life at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 400 Lancaster Ave., Frazer. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the church.
Interment will be private.
