Eleanor Shook Aufderhaar 85, of Everett, Washington, passed away August 26, 2009, surrounded by family.
She was born November 8, 1923, in Princeton, Idaho. She met her husband Norman while he was serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII. They were married on October 31, 1942, in Walla Walla, Washington. Following military service, they resided in or near St. Marys, Ohio.
Upon Norman's passing November 16, 1989, she returned to the North West to care for her aging mother. She had resided in Edmonds or Everett, Washington, for the past 20 years.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Robert Aufderhaar; mother, Jesse Russell Shook Gaines; her father, Grant Lawrence Shook; her step-father, Clifford Henry Gaines; and brother, Leonard (Ben) Jesse Shook.
She is survived by her children, Grant (Linda), of Fairfax, VA, Susan, of Edmonds, and Conrad (Diane), of New Bremen, OH; sisters, Gladys Queen and Louise Gaines; and five grandchildren, Laura, Jason, Eric, Jennifer and Kathryn.
Til her passing, Eleanor remained a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, Ohio. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards with her family, and especially loved playing bingo with friends. She loved using her Librarian skills while working with the Meadows II book and video collections.
A Memorial service was held in Everett, Washington, at her bedside. Interment is at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Everett, Washington.
