Minta Carroll Hutchens, beloved wife of Bryan passed away holding his hand as they napped Friday morning April 23, 2010.
Minta was born July 12, 1925 in Robinson Corner, Oklahoma to Leonard and Eva Shook. Growing up as an only child, her favorite pets were a chicken and a groundhog. The family moved to Grangeville Idaho the year Minta turned 14.
At an Easter Sunday Luncheon put on by the youth group at church, Minta noticed Bryan was having trouble using a waffle iron and offered to help. By the end of the luncheon he was holding her hand. Four years later she married him in Walla Walla and the parents treated them to dinner at the Marcus Whitman Hotel Her children also treated them to a weekend there for their 65th anniversary. She followed him to Salt Lake City Utah where he was based for WWII. After the war, they moved into the Nob Hill sub-division that Minta's parents were building in Kennewick and lived there until her death. Minta worked at the Tri-City Herald as an accountant for 23 years.
