Grandpa Shones was born and raised in Minnesota. He married Elizabeth Komisar and they were the parents of six children - Don, George, Virginia, James, Arnold and Rose. He moved his family to Oregon in 1952 and settled in Independence. He died of a heart attack while shoveling snow. Grandma had a stained glass window commissioned at their church in his memory.
