Joyce Mae (née Sholes) Blain of Cedar Springs, age 84, passed away peacefully after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Family was everything to Joyce; she loved to spend time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She shared her love of the outdoors, making crafts, baking and cooking. She took the kids on treks, searching for mushrooms, fishing in small streams, and picking berries. Joyce also loved drawing and painting; she started painting later in life, creating florals and landscapes. Joyce always made sure everyone was well fed; when everyone came home from work or school, there would be hot, homemade strudels and donuts waiting for them. Joyce worked at Michigan Plating and Stamping and later retired from Wolverine Worldwide, where she served as financial secretary and past president of the United Food and Commercial Workers, Local #600. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 65 years, William B. Blain; children Diane (David) Kennedy, Daniel (Beth) Blain, Debra (William) Zachary, Lisa (David) Harper; grandchildren, Melissa and Clinton Blain, Timothy and Ryan Kennedy, Billy Joe (Natasha) Meinke, Chris (Megon) Meinke, Ross Zachary, Cindy Joyce, Jordan Zachary, and Cody Harper; nine great grandchildren; sisters Carol Tyler, Naomi (George) Tyler; brother Marvin Brooks; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
