Leona Lee McCulloch
Kieth & Keith Funeral Home
YAKIMA - Leona Lee McCulloch, 79, of Yakima, WA left to be with the Lord on January 31, 2008 after battling the effects of cancer. She was born September 15, 1928 to James O. and Frances Shoemaker in Sedalia, MO.
She received her education in Yakima and spent many years there working in nursing homes as well as twenty years at Lincoln Laundry with her close friend Donna Craig, before retiring. One of her greatest pleasures was her well-known turkey dinners where all were invited. She loved the outdoors, including gardening and fishing. She spent many wonderful days with her fishing buddies, Marie and Andy.
She married Paul McCulloch and they spent the next forty-three years building a home where all were welcome and cared for. He would often refer to her as "The Kid".
She was a member of the New Generation Church where she received the Lord and made many friends in Christ. She often referred to herself as a "poor defenseless ol'lady", which brought much laughter. She touched the lives and hearts of so many and will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. McCulloch, parents, James O. and Frances Shoemaker, sisters Betty J. Worthington, Georgia Persinger, Mary Harper, and brothers, Earl and Jay.
She is survived by a son, Arthur J. Harmon, and wife Virginia, grandchildren, Oliver, Paul, and Laura Harmon, all of Yakima, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held from 12 noon to 5 pm. Sunday and from 3 to 8 pm. Monday at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in Tahoma Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery.
