This person is Mary Traub, born Nov. 25, 1886 in Michigan, the daughter of Lewis Traub and Veronica Newman, both of whom were born in Germany. Mary had some known siblings: an older sister, Helen, an older brother, Lewis, a twin sister, Martha, and younger sister, Agness.

Mary Traub married Chester Shoebridge on March 26, 1906, at the Congregational Church in Detroit. Chester was the son of George W. Shoebridge and Ida Bell Taylor of Salem, Michigan. Officiant at the wedding was John F. Berry and witnesses were Henry and Ella Shoebridge of Detroit.

Chester is buried, as you know, in Lapham Cemetery in Salem.

Mary and Chester had several children: Irving, Edward, Helen, Dorothy, Katherine, Florine, and Marian.

Sometime after 1930 Mary and Chester divorced. She married a second time to William W. Smith, who was born to Roland Smith and Cassie McLaughlin on July 12, 1881 in New York. Mary and William married on June 29, 1938 at Steuben, Indiana. At the time he was living in Gary, Indiana and she in Steuben. It was the second marriage for William as well.

Chester also remarried. He can be found in the 1940 census with a wife named Margaret, in Northville, Michigan. He was 58 and she 34. (On information is given that he is 15 and that they live in a sanitarium in Northville. However, if you actually look at the image you can see his age is clearly given as 58 and they are not listed among the residents of the sanitarium, but rather below it).

I don't know what happened to Margaret, but in 1950 there is a record that shows Chester married Irma Kehrl (b. Oct. 12 1898, in Northville, to parents Rudolph W. Kehrl and Emma Wallgast) on March 27, 1950 in Indiana.

Buried in Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville are:
Irma Kehrl Shoebridge (Chester's 2nd wife)
Mary Traub Shoebridge Smith (Chester's 1st wife and William Smith's 2nd wife)
William W. Smith (Mary's 2nd husband)
George Shoebridge (Chester's brother) and his wife, Cora E. DeKay Shoebridge.
