BERTHA M. SHIPPEE, 98, formerly of Columbia Street, Wakefield, a licensed practical nurse for more than 50 years, died Monday at Roberts Health Center, North Kingstown.
She was the wife of the late Ernest P. Shippee.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Frank W. and Mabel (O'Dell) Anderson, she had been a resident of Wakefield for more than 70 years.
Mrs. Shippee worked at South County Hospital for many years, and was also the owner and operator of the Rodman House Nursing Home, in Narragansett, from 1953 to 1965.
She is survived by a daughter,10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Mary G. Ringler.
Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
