Bettie Eileen Shipman
Bettie Shipman passed from her earthly dwelling and went to her eternal Heavenly home early the morning of March 19, 2012. She was born to Bertha (Billie) Weaver-Mickley and Ralph Weaver on June 21, 1925 in the beautiful country town of Stotts City, Missouri. She married J. Y. (Jake) Shipman in August of 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Bettie is survived by her three children: Dennis Shipman and wife Judy of Odessa, Tx.; Susan Bristow and husband Milton of Odessa, Tx. and Jennifer Beckham and husband Keith of Jal, New Mexico. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Jay Shipman, Tracy Trout, Dusty Valdez, Wendy Dewar and each of their respective spouses. Along with her grandchildren, she was blessed with eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Bettie was a woman of principal, and was a blessed gift to each of us. She had the most beautiful smile and grandest laugh when life's triumphs were at hand yet never backed down from a challenge, including her illness. She had the gentleness of spirit that only God can place in a woman's heart, yet the fire of a lion when challenged with the obstacles that are thrown at us during our lives. She had "true grit" when it came to confronting the adversities in life.
There will be a private family time of goodbye. Per our Mother's wishes, there will be no services. Her wish is for her ashes to be taken and spread upon the earth at her birthplace in Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family wish is that any donation you would want to make to be placed in her honor to: Compass Hospice LLC, 1330 E. 8th, Suite 410. Odessa, Tx. 79761.
Cremated, Ashes scattered.
