WHITELAW - Marion E. Carolla, 77, Hertel Road, formerly of Cleveland Avenue, Oneida, died Thursday afternoon, July 27, 2006, in the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she had been a medical patient for the past three weeks.

Born in Lakeport, on Sept. 10, 1928, she was the daughter of Norman and Ruth Barton Shetler. A lifelong resident of this area, Marion was educated in Canastota schools. She married Frank A. "Trigger" Carolla in St. Joseph's Church, Oneida, on Nov. 28, 1946. Mr. Carolla died on June 1, 1992.

Marion assisted her late husband in the ownership and operation of the Club Diner, which was formerly located in Oneida. She was of the Catholic faith and was devoted to her family and was an avid reader.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Charles Broniszewski of Canastota; four sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Debbie Carolla of Blossvale, Thomas and Sharon Carolla of Oneida, John and Marsha Carolla of Canastota, and Anthony and Bonnie Carolla of Vernon; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lillian Zike of Zion, Ill., Phyllis and Roy Natanson of North Syracuse, Dorothy Ludecke of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Carlene and Bruce Ward of Oneida; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Beverly Shetler of Bouckville; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Timothy F. Carolla, on April 18, 2005, three brothers, Norman, Jr., Roger, and Harold Shelter, and three sisters, Esther Husband and Marguerite and Midge Shetler.

Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m., Monday, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida and 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Edmund Castronovo, pastor.

Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 4-7 p.m., Sunday.

Contributions, in her memory, may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of CNY, Suite 900, MONY Towers, 120 Madison Street, Syracuse, NY 13202 or the Ronald Mc Donald House, 1027 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13210. Envelopes for these funds may be obtained at the funeral home.
