Edith's father was b. in Iowa, her mother was b. in Missouri. All of their children were b. in Missouri.
Luther G. Sherman and Edith Herssey, both of Eagle Rock, Barry Co., Mo. were united in marriage in Cassville, Barry Co., Mo. on March 20, 1897. Edith was over the age of 18, but Luther was under 18 and therefore, permission of his father, John L. Sherman was made part of the record.
According to the 1880 U.S. census, Edeith Hussey, age 2 was living in Roaring River Twp. with her parents, 25 yr. old John, a farmer, and 19 yr. old Tebitha Hussey.
In the June 15, 1900 U.S. census, 20 yr. old Lewis (Luther), a farmer, b. Sept. 1879 in Ky. was living in Roaring River Twp, Barry Co., Mo. with 21 yr. old wife, Edith, b. Sept. 1878 in Arkansas and their two daughters: 1 & 11/12 yr. old Ruth, b. July 1898 in Mo. and 8 mth. old Nellie, b. Sept. 1888 in Mo. They had been married for three years. Edith had had two children, both still living. Luther's father was b. in Ohio and his mother in Ky. Edith's father was b. in Indiana, her mother in Mo.
In the Apr. 29, 1910 U. S. census, 30 yr. old Grove Sherman, a farmer, was living in Roaring River, Barry Co., Mo. with his 31 yr. old wife, Edith and their six children: 11 yr. old daughter, Ruthia 8 yr. old Squire 7 yr. old Elmer 5 yr. old Marie 2 yr. old Billie 2 mth. old Ethel Edith had had 7 children, but by this census, only six were alive. Nellie had apparently died.
According to her father's Sept. 12, 1918 WWI Draft Registration card, Luther Grove Sherman was b. Sept. 26, 1878. He was a farmer, b. in Barry Co., Missouri and was married to Edith. He was described as being of medium height and build, with blue eyes and black hair. At the date of this registration, they were living on Route 2, Eureka Springs, Carroll Co., Arkansas. The card was stamped with the name of the local board: Cassville, Barry Co., Mo.
By the 1930 U.S. census, L 'Grover' Sherman, age 50, a farmer, was still living in Roaring River Twp, Barry Co., Mo. with his 51 yr. old wife, Edith and their children: 18 yr. old son, Luther 14 yr. old daughter, Maude M. 12 yr. old, daughter, Vernie E. and 10 yr. old son, August. They had been married 18 years.
