Elizabeth's parents were Richard and Lydia Mulligan Sheridan. She married George Bole Gourley and had 2 sons: Lincoln E. Gourley and Scott.

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Gourley, of Piney Township, wife of Geo. B. Gourley, died Sunday, March 20, 1921, aged 82 years, 2 months and 20 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sheridan, of Porter Township, and was born December 29, 1838. On Feb. 22, 1866, she was married to Geo. B. Gourley and to this union twins were born, one dying at birth and the other, Lincoln E. Gourley, residing in Piney Township. She has one brother living, Wm. Sheridan, of Porter Township, and one sister, Mrs. James McClune, of Limestone Township, also seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Walter Gwyn, pastor of the Reidsburg Baptist Church, of which Mrs. Gourley had been a member for 60 years. The services were held from the home of Mrs. Harvey Bashline, a foster daughter of Mrs. Gourley since she was five years and with whom she has made her home since the death of her husband about 17 years ago. Mrs. Gourley was a devoted Christian woman and was honored as such by all who knew her. A kind and devoted mother and grandmother to all her kindred. Clarion Democrat 3/31/1921.
