Matthew Michael Shemo of Conway, S.C.
Matthew Michael Shemo, age 90 of Conway, died Monday, October 31, 2005, at the Conway Medical Center. Born April 27, 1915 in Taylor, Pa., he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth Kandra Shimo. Mr. Shemo was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Conway; he had moved to Conway from New Port Richey, Fla., after living there for 27 years. He was a resident of "A Place At Conway." Prior to his retirement he was employed by General Electric in Westover, N.Y. Surviving are his wife, Anna Shemo of Conway; one daughter, Ann Rogers and her husband, Tom, Conway; one son, Matthew M. Shemo, Jr., Miami, Fla.; three grandchildren, Thomas Rogers and his wife, Laura, Lisa Rogers and Patrick Shemo; one brother, Francis Shemo [Shimo], Moosic, Pa.; and one sister, Mary Carey of Baltimore, Md.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2005, with the Rev. Father John Silver as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday; a Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorials and Tributes Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058-5216. An online guest book is available @ www.goldfinchfuneralhome.com. Goldfinch funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.†
