Ruth M. Alexander, 95, of Brookline Village, Mifflintown died at 4:30 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born March 3, 1916 in Cocolamus, Juniata County she was a daughter of the late Ira and Mary (Stuck) Shelley.
Her husband, Merrill R. Alexander, whom she married on October 9, 1936, preceded her in death on November 2, 2005.
She is survived by two sisters, Geraldine Leach, of Mifflintown and Lulu Daughenbaugh, of Townsend, GA as well as several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Paul Shelley, and six sisters, Hazel Speece, Mabel Strawser, Sara Benner, Anna Long, Keturah Brubaker and Esther Moore, preceded her in death.
She attended the New Life Assembly of God Church, Mifflintown.
Ruth was a homemaker, who had also worked at the L. Shellenberger Shirt Factory, McAlisterville.
Working outside in her yard and her gardens, were the activities she enjoyed most.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall Street, McAlisterville, with the Rev. Alan Reiman officiating. Interment followed in the Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville.
Viewing was held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Tuesday at the funeral home.
