Dorothy Marie Border, 91, formerly of York, entered into enternal rest November 19, 2009, at her Heartfield's residence.
Mrs. Border was born in York, on November 16, 1918, to Walter A. and Anna M. Ebersole Sheffer.
Mrs. Border was a 1936 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was a member of The Christian Workers Sunday School Class. She was also a member of The Ladies Auxiliary of the Salvation Army and an active volunteer for many years. Mrs. Border was honored as The Salvation Army Volunteer of the year in 1987. She was active in Masonry as an officer and member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 169; Order of Amaranth 38; Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem 36; The Ladies Auxiliary of YorkGethsemane Commandery 21, Knights Templar; and a charter member of Yorktowne Cedarettes.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Border was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Lloyd A. Border; her son, Lonnie A. Border, and his wife, Barbara; and her sister, Rozella Ilgenfritz. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Ann Kissinger and her husband, Roy of Spotsylvania, Va.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
