Arline was born on the family farm about 2-3 months premature and the day after her 9 month old brother died. To keep her body temperature steady, they put her in a shoebox filled with cotton on the oven door.

Mary "Arline" Slazes (nee Sheehan), age 87, lifelong resident of Lake Villa, Illinois, passed on October 6, 1994 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, Illionis.

Arline was born January 5, 1907 in Lake Villa, Illinois, daughter of Blanche and Dan Sheehan. She was a charter member of VFW Post 4308 Ladies Auxiliary and had spent many hours as a volunteer at the Veteran's Hospital in North Chicago, Ill. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and teh Altar and Rosary Society.

She leaves to cherish memories of her love and kindness, five children: son, Daniel (Marylou) Slazes and four daughters, Rosemary (Leif) Larsen, Jeannette Keisler, Shirley (James) McGrain, and Sharon (Karl) Johnson; a daughter-in-law, Betty Slazes. She leaves 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one sister, Hazel Justice of Elburn, Ill. and three brothers, Elmer (Valeria) Sheehan and Warren (Ramona) Sheehan of Lake Villa and Charles "Bud" Sheehan of Lake Worth, Fla.

Arline was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Slazes Sr.; her son, Frank Slazes Jr.; one sister, Estelle Stahmer; and brothers Frank, Howard, Bob and Joe Sheehan. She was also preceded in death by a dear friend, James Hyland.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 11, 1994 at 9:30 a.m. from the RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave., (Rte. 83), Lake Villa, Illinois to Prince of Peace Church for a 10 a.m. funeral mass. Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, Ill. Friends may call at the the funeral home on Monday, October 10, 1994 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Antioch Rescue Squad, Lake Villa Rescue Squad or the STAR Hospice of St. Therese Hospital.
