19-year-old Arnold James Shear, a graduate of Clinton High School, was reported missing by his parents and employer, Lyons Café, 28 Mar 1964. The youth's body was found 4 Apr 1964 by a group of boys playing by a creek located at the northern Clinton city limits. According to the preliminary report of the medical examiner, Arnold did not suffer attacks of violence.
Among the many who mourn the tragic loss of the fine young man are his parents, Robert Matthew and Margaret Nave Shear, a brother and a sister, and grandfather Max Nave. He was preceded by his grandparents John Murray and Mary Matthews Shear, and grandmother, Emma Louise Meyer Nave in 1955.
