In 1970 when I transcribed this stone for a project I was doing, the following was visible:
In memory of Mr John Shaw who died Oct 1st 1805 in the 26th Year of his Age. Also In memory of David Shaw, who died May 19th 1796 Aged 1 Year.
Pause you thoughtful reader, take one serious thought
Consider, soon the grave must be your lot:
Make sure of Christ while life and hope remain
Then death will be your souls eternal gain.
For when the Soul's released, twill rise above
To realms of bliss, and sing "redeeming love".
