OKLAHOMA CITY - JoBeth Sharp, 81, of Edmond, Okla., passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Bradford Village Assisted Living.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John D. Sharp.
She was born in Longview on July 10, 1928, to L.P. Fisher and Lillie Bell Gowen Fisher, deceased. JoBeth graduated from Mineola High School, attended ETSU in Commerce and graduated from Tyler Business College in Tyler. Upon graduation, she was employed at Gowen Sanatorium in Shreveport, La., where she met Johnny. JoBeth was a member of Summit United Methodist Church in Marshall since 1962. She was employed at Harrison County Tax Office and then at Marshall High School Athletic Department.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Joe Massey of Edmond, Okla.; two grandsons, John Massey of Gonzales, La., and Joel Massey of Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Linda McDowell of Texarkana, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Sharpe of Rockwall and Joyce Sharpe Rogers of Carthage; and many nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Bradford Village Assisted Living in Edmond, Okla., with the Rev. Pete Miller officiating. Graveside services will be at a later date in Diana at Ashland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Summit United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1942, Marshall, TX 75671, to the Arthritis Foundation or American Heart Association .
