AYERS, FLEDA SHARP - age 98, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Cumberland Village Nursing Home in La Follette, Tenn. where she had been a resident for several years. She was born on July 4,1910 in Straight Fork Community located in Scott County, Tennessee to parents William F. Sharp, Sr. and Patsy Jane Byrd Sharp, now deceased. Mrs. Ayers had attended Lincoln Memorial University with a concentration in music. She taught music in the Campbell County School for a short time. Mrs. Ayers was a gifted pianist and enjoyed teaching music to her students and playing the piano for numerous events. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Caryville where her love of music began. She was preceded in death by her husband Beasley Ayers of La Follette, Tenn. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant sisters named Maggie Irene and Mary Francis Sharp; two brothers and sisters-in-law, D.I. Minton Sharp and wife Myrtle of Jacksboro, Tenn., William F. Sharp, Jr. and wife Ruth of Oliver Springs, Tenn.; three sisters, Lillian Sharp Joiner and husband Troas of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Doris Sharp Herskovitz of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Wilma Fay Sharp of Norris, Tenn.; two nephews, Ray Sharp of Johnson City, Tenn. and Walter Sharp of Jacksboro, Tenn.; a great nephew Danny W. Sharp of Johnson City also preceded her in death. She is survived by three nieces; Pat Sharp Brown and husband, Bill, of Jacksboro, Tenn., Sue Sharp Wilson and husband Larry of Ladson, South Carolina, and Rebeccah Sharp Yarborough and husband Timothy of Oliver Springs, Tenn.; two nephews, William F. Sharp, III and wife Connie of Oliver Springs, Tenn., and William Troas Joiner and wife Martha of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one brother-in-law, M.B. Herskovitz of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; several great nieces and nephews also survive her. The family will receive friends at Jackson-Oliver Mortuary in Oliver Springs on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery in La Follette, Tenn. with Rev. Kenneth L. Faught officiating.
