Doris Strine Sharp, Musician
Doris Strine Sharp and her sister Lois Strine Hawk were members of the all girl orchestra The Tunesmith Tomboys. The orchestra performed for dances around northeast Kansas in the nineteen twenties. Doris was an excellent pianist who gave music lessons from her home and was a longtime accompanist for the Monrovia Grade School as well as local vocalist.
Doris Sharp Dies; Rites On Friday
Mrs. Doris A. Sharp, 88, rural Effingham, died this morning at the Atchison hospital. She had been admitted April 17.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Effingham Union church, the Rev. Don Wilson, pastor officiating. The family requests memorials to the church.
Burial will be in Monrovia cemetery.
The O'Trimble Funeral Home, Effingham is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a son Archie W. Sharp, and a daughter, Mrs. David (Joanne) Bodenhausen, both of route 2, Effingham; a brother, Owen K. Strine, Effingham; a sister, Mrs. Leroy (Lois) Hawk, Colfax, Calif,; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.Mrs. Sharp was born March 6, 1909 at Monrovia, the daughter of Arch and Emma McLenon Strine. She was a lifelong resident of the same community and a member of the Effingham Union church.
Married Dec. 24, 1931, at the Effingham Methodist parsonage to William Sharp, she devoted her life to her home and family on the farm near Effingham, and to her church.
Mr. Sharp died Feb. 10 this year.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 3 p.m. at the Effingham Union Church. The Rev. Don Wilson will officiate. Interment will be the Monrovia Cemetery. The casket will lie in state, at the church, for one hour preceeding the service.
