After the death of her husband in 1932 she moved from New Castle, Delaware to San Francisco, California to live with her daughter Mary Bower (Kilpatrick) Garloff and her family. Louise M. Kilpatrick was a "Medium" in the Spiritualist Church in San Francisco.
