Madelyn Shannon, 70, Woodhull, died Monday, April 19, 1993, at Trinity Medical Center, East Campus, Moline. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Alpha Baptist Church, where she was a member, Burial is in Alpha Cemetery. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox funeral Home, Woodhull. Memorial may be made to the Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association.
The former Madelyn Deppe was born Dec. 27, 1922, in Perry County, Ill., the daughter of Errol and Hazel Larry Deppe. She married Ivan L. Shannon March 15, 1942, in Viola. Mrs. Shannon was a waitress for several years at the former McKee Diner, Alpha. She retired in 1974 from the former Galesburg Holiday Inn, where she also had worked as a waitress.
Survivors include the widower; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Mike Peterson, Woodhull; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Marlene, and Curtis and Rose Shannon, all of Alpha, and Darrel and Marvin Shannon, both of Omaha, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and George Chase, Keota, Iowa; brothers, Clifford Deppe, Galesburg, Ernest Deppe, Columbus Junction, Iowa, and LeRoy Deppe, Swedona; and several nieces and nephews.
