Pauline P. Shaffer Whitehill Biggins, 93, of San Mateo, California, formerly of Coraopolis and Fair Oaks, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, in Millbrae-Serra Convalescent Home, San Mateo.

Born Feb. 21, 1918, in Ellwood City, she was a daughter of the late William and Blanche Kelly Shaffer. She worked as a salesperson for the Rawleigh Company with 20 years of service. She was a member of the Good Samaritan Catholic Church, Ambridge, Bell Acres Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, Fair Oaks Women's Club and the Women of the Moose, Coraopolis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Clarence Whitehill, on June 20, 1968 and Francis L. Biggins, on July 19, 1986; two brothers, Clifford and Stanley Shaffer and a sister, Stella Mae Shaffer.

Surviving are a son, Gary C. (Patricia) Whitehill, San Mateo, California; four grandchildren, Catherine (John) Echarte, Kristen (Robert) Childs, Dr. Dennis (Donna) Biggins and Bruce (Jeannie) Biggins; four great-grandchildren, Amaya and Jessica Echarte and Alexandra and Kate Childs; a sister, Dorothy Smith, Tavares, Florida; a loving and devoted godchild, Doris (Harry) LaVelle and family of Bell Acres and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME, Ambridge, where prayers will be offered Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Good Samaritan Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
