Clarence W. Seyller, 58, mayor of Hampshire and a partner in the Petersen & Seyller Ford agency in the village for the last 29 years, died at his home at 3 a.m. today after a long illness.

Seyller, widely known throughout the Elgin area, was a lifelong resident of Hampshire. He was born Jan. 21, 1897, s son of George and Louise Seyller, and was united in marriage with Cecelia Welch on July 14, 1926.

He was a Naval veteran of World War !, was a member of St. Charles Borromeo's Catholic church of Hampshire, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8043 and American Legion Post 680, both of Hampshire and Elgin Elks lodge 1047.

In addition to the widow, he is survived by a daughter, Teressa Ann; a son, George, both of Hampshire; three brothers, Joseph, George and Harry Seyller, also of Hampshire and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Meagher of Chicago and Mrs. Alma Billings of Rockford. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers who died in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Seyller residence and at 9:30 at St. Charles Borromeo's church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be recited at the Seyller home at 8:30 Friday night. Friends may call at the residence after 6 p.m. Thursday.
