Jim Seward age 78 of Tacna, Arizona, died June 11, 2001 at home under the care of Hospice of Yuma, Arizona.

Jim was born on March 22,1923. He was the son of Louis James & Edith Mae (Fischer) Seward Sr. He was a member of the Gila Mountain United Methodist Church in Yuma, Arizona.

Jim served in the US Navy in World War II aboard the USS Saratoga and the USS Sandborn. He also served his country in 19 major battles which earned him the following medals; Asiatic Pacific (Eight Stars) Campaign Medal. The American Area Campaign Medal, The Good Conduct Medal as well as the World War II Victory Medal.

Jim settled in Tacna in 1982 where he worked at Shay Oil Company and Grower Mohawk Cotton Gin in Roll, Arizona.

When Jim retired in 1985 you could find him either fishing or telling a joke or two to either a friend or family member.

Jim is survived by his wife, Audrey and his two sons; Louis James Seward III , and grandchildren Kari, Christopher and Ryan Seward of Pasadena, Texas and, Lonnie Jon Seward, wife Jonna and granddaughter Andy Seward of Santa Fe, Texas. Three sisters; Edith Hooker of Trona, California, Winnford Tyson of Aurora, Colorado and Harriet (James) Lock of Frenso, California. He is also survived by six stepchildren; Sandra (David) Eveland and Family of League City, Texas, Daniel Uptegrove and Family of League City, Texas, Karen (Chris) Dunlap and Family of Bacliff, Texas, Timothy (Brigitte) Uptegrove and Family of League City, Texas, Ronnie (Lisa) Uptegrove and Family of Huntsville, Texas, and Joanmarie (Keith) Reese & Family of Santee, California. Two Sister-in-laws: Marilyn (Ray) Bass of Jonesburg, Missouri, and, Patricia Voorhees of Conroe, Texas. A Brother-in-law, Dr. Alexander N. Sivret, of Batavia, New York. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive him.

Jim is proceeded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Seward Sr., two sisters Hazel Hoskins, and Mildred Bolton. Also two half brothers; Edward and Leonard Smith. as well as one half sister Florence Rogers. A brother-in-law Robert Voorhees and sister-in-law Elizabeth Sivret.

The Memorial service will be held in Houston, Texas. The Yuma Mortuary and Crematory in Yuma, Arizona did the cremation.
