A chapel funeral service for Donna Jean Anderson, 86, of Coos Bay, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at Coos Bay Chapel, 685 Anderson Ave. The Rev. Frank Potmesil, of Bay Area Christian Fellowship, will officiate. Interment will be held at Ocean View Memory Gardens, in Coos Bay.
Donna was born June 17, 1920, in Madison, Minn., the daughter of Alvin and Frieda (Schwin) Severson. She died March 7, 2007, in Coos Bay.
Donna spent her youth in Springfield, where she attended Springfield High School. She moved to Coos Bay at the age of 15. She married Eldon R. Coleman in 1939, in Vancouver, Wash. He preceded her in death in 1966. She married Richard J. Anderson in 1971, in Coos Bay. He preceded her in death in 1999. Donna worked at Graham's Crab Plant on the North Bend waterfront as a canning room clerk and later at The Hub Fashion Center as a clerk. Also a homemaker, Donna loved her collection of more than 300 frogs. She enjoyed spending time and visiting with her many friends at The Mill Casino-Hotel and especially with her extended family at her residence for the past 11 years, Ocean Crest Assisted Living.
She is survived by her daughter, Annette Brewer of Powers; two sisters, Helen Hayes of Springfield, and Margie Maine of North Bend; five nieces, Susan Henslee of Eugene, Gloria Chineworth of North Bend, Tonya Willis of Springfield, Twyla Russell of Springfield and Gayle Cantrell of Las Cruces, N.M.; nephew, Larry Hayes of Springfield; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Dunwoodie of Everett, Wash., Margie Spencer of Coos Bay, and David Brewer of Victorville, Calif.; 10 great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Saphire.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and sisters, Edna Leathers, Ethel Young, Eva Harbaugh and Ione Good.
