Joan Ruth Allred, 76, of Sheridan, died March 21, 2008 in Sheridan Manor.
Mrs. Allred was born Dec. 5, 1931 in Billings to Golden Logan and Ruby Elizabeth (Merryman) Sessions. She grew up and attended schools in Billings. The family moved to Lovell where Joan graduated from Lovell High School in 1948. She then attended Eastern Montana College in Billings. She then began her teaching career at the age of 19.
Allred continued her education, obtaining a Masters Degree in School Administration from the California Lutheran University of Thousand Oaks, Calif. in 1975. She continued teaching with across the board certification in Montana, California, Utah and Wyoming until she retired in 1986. Joan moved to Sheridan in October 2002.
Joan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints First Ward in Sheridan. She was a volunteer at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She also loved geneaology, beading, knitting, painting and arts and crafts.
Allred was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Ellyn Kathleen Driver.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Lindsey of Puyallup, Wash., and Lora "Kappy" Churchill of Sheridan; two sons, Justin Ryan of Federal Way, Wash., and William Mansikka of Marina, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Interment followed in the Mt. View Cemetery in Billings.
