Norwich - Margaret (Serra) Barry, 86, wife of the late William J. Barry formerly of 8 Nelson Place, Norwich, died Friday afternoon.
Born in Norwich on June 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Victoria (Zigaro) Serra. Prior to her retirement she was the owner-operator of Margaret's Beauty Salon on Broadway in Norwich. On April 29, 1950 at St. Mary Church in Norwich she was united in marriage to William J. Barry who died March 17, 2006.
She was also predeceased by two sisters, Mary Tombari and Josephine Leone, and two brothers, Dr. Joseph Serra and John Serra. Surviving is her sister Lucy Abruzzo, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, meeting directly at the church, with interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made in her memory to Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 181 Elizabeth St., Norwich, CT 06360. Arrangements by Labenski Funeral Home.
