Born on December 6, 1916 in Princeton, she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Annie West Selvey. She had been a resident of Pulaski for 18 years and attended the Assembly of God in Dublin, Va. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wirt Wilson Cyphers; seven brothers, Basil, Lee, North, Matthew, Ray, Paul, and James Selvey; and three sisters, Pauline Howard, Juanita Stainback, and Naomi Pace.
Survivors include: One son: William "Bill" Cyphers and wife Sharon of Greenville, N.C.; two daughters: Barbara Kitts and husband Wayne of Bastian, Va., Ann C. Ridpath and husband Ron of Radford, Va.; five grandchildren: Michael Mitchell of Radford, Va., Chris Cyphers of Greenville, N.C., Jason Cyphers of Greenville, N.C., Lori Carpenter of Pearisburg, Va., Jennifer Skaggs of Princeton; eight great-grandchildren: Katherine and Elsie Cyphers, Abby and Logan Carpenter, Clinton, Angel, Jillian, Wesley; three great-great-grandchildren: Layla, Gavin, and Madison; one sister: Ruth Garris of Henderson, N.C.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. W.W. Wyrick officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Bluewell with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Thursday from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
