Doris Mae Seitz Anderson
POUGHKEEPSIE - Doris Mae Seitz Anderson, 81, of Poughkeepsie, with her family by her side, was called home by the Lord to be with her beloved husband, Edgar L. Anderson, on their 60th wedding anniversary. Born in Poughkeepsie on September 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Starker Seitz. Doris was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1945 and attended upon graduation Vassar Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated from Krissler Business Institute in 1945. On April 17, 1949 at Washington St. Hedding Methodist Church, she married Edgar L. Anderson. Mr. Anderson predeceased her on November 11, 2007. Doris was employed by Dr. Benjamin Perrino as his office manager for several years and then for Dr. Joseph Ross as office manager and technician. Early on she was secretary for Association for Girl Scouts of America. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church and Arlington High School Alumni Association. She was an avid Yankee fan, loved Derek Jeter and had a passion for China painting. She is survived by her nieces and nephews; Bruce S. Anderson of Poughkeepsie, Doreen S. Anderson of Poughkeepsie, Lorraine Shelly Anderson of Poughkeepsie, Roy Anderson of OH., and Leonard Anderson of Amenia; extended family member, Kathryn L. Vooris of Poughkeepsie; grand nieces and nephews, Tara Orellana of VA., Steven Jeffrey Walberg of Poughkeepsie, Kyle Jeffrey Anderson of Boston, MA., and Connor Patrick Lee Anderson of Cairo,NY. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Lawrence Frederick Anderson on October 9, 2006; sister Marion Seitz Anderson and nephew Jeffrey Stephen Anderson. Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 pm at Parmele-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held Monday 10:30 am from Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church, 2831 New Hackensack Rd., Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in LaGrange Rural Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Arlington Rescue Squad for the many times they have been called to the family residence and for the quality care given to Doris.
