Death Follows Internal Injuries Received Recently

When He is Caught Between Horse and Post

He is a Native of Pleasant Township and Serves Two Terms as Commissioner.

Henry Seiter, retired Pleasant township farmer and former commissioner of Marion county, died at noon today at the home of his son-in-law, Charles F. Miller, four miles south of the city. Death was caused from internal injuries received a week ago Sunday while he was hitching a horse at the Miller home. Mr. Seiter was caught between the horse and a post when the animal became unmanageable.

Mr. Seiter was born in Pleasant township sixty-four years ago next April 10. He had lived his entire life in Marion county.

Married Forty Years
Mr. Seiter was married forty years ago to Miss Sophia Almendinger, who survives with two children, Mrs. C.F. Miller of Pleasant township, and Mrs. David Neidhart, residing on the Seiter homestead. He is also survived by six grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Christ Martin, of Cherry street, Marion; Mrs. Daniel Seiter and Mrs. Mary Rousch, of Richland township; five half-brothers, Christ Seiter, of Agosta; Jacob and William Seiter, of Pleasant township, and George and Philip Seiter of Marion. He was a lifelong member of the German M.E. church south of the city, a member of the Elks Lodge and of the Masonic bodies of Marion. He served two terms as Democratic county commissioner and during this time made his home in Marion. At the close of his second term as commissioner about two years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Seiter made their home with their daughters.

The funeral will be held Wednesday with short services at 12:30 o'clock at the home, followed by services at 1 o'clock at the Prospect Street M.E. church, Marion. Burial will be made in the Marion cemetery.
