The funeral for James F. Seibert, 80, of 311 Fairway Drive, Bloomington, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evangelical Free Church, Bloomington. The Rev. Richard Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington.
He died at 11:14 a.m. Thursday (July 8, 1999) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to the Evangelical Free Church, 2910 E. Lincoln St., Bloomington, 61704 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Seibert was born on April 4, 1919, in Quincy, the son of Joseph and Anna Tushaus Seibert. He married Margaret "Peg" Smith on Nov. 22, 1945, in Quincy. She died Dec. 2, 1990. He later married Edna Downs Burnett on Sept. 4, 1993, in Downs. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Rev. David (April Reno) Seibert, Arvada, Colo.; three daughters, Linda (Mike) Schlipmann, Quincy; Mary (Harold) Smith, Norwalk, Calif.; Therese (Tom) Smith, Towanda; one sister, Dorothy Power, Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Donald Seibert, Quincy; one step-daughter, Linda Emery, Elgin; and a stepson, Lynn (Terry) Burnett, Appleton, Wis.
Other survivors include his grandchildren, Dan, Bob and Tom Schlipmann; Preston, Pearson, Summer and Krystal Smith and Myles Smith; four step-grandchildren, Troy Reno, and Erin, Ryan and Justin Burnett.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Seibert.
Mr. Seibert was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, Bloomington. He was formerly active in the Boy Scout organization in Quincy and Bloomington.
He enjoyed dancing, golf and fishing and loved to visit with his many friends.
Mr. Seibert was an Army veteran of WWII.
Jim worked at Scudder Gale Grocer in Quincy until 1969. He then was transferred to General Grocer Co. in Bloomington. He later owned and managed the Pik-N-Save Cash and Carry in Bloomington prior to retirement.
