Lessie Ayers
Lessie Margie Segars Ayers, 94, of Royston, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.
Born in Banks County, December 22, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Nora Norton Segars. Mrs. Ayers, known as "Mama Ayers" to family and friends, was a homemaker and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bromer Eugene (B.E.) Ayers, and a son, Virgil Ayers.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Conyard and Barbara Ayers, Bowman, Wade and Evelyn Ayers, Barry and Linda Ayers, and Delores Ayers, all of Royston; daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and John Rice and Marlene and Harvard Hart, all of Royston; brother, Tommy Segars, Bowman; sisters, Lozelle Cape, Patricia Poole, and Sara Phillips, all of Athens, and Celeste Shiflet, Hartwell; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 8, in the Holly Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Kesler, Bert Synan, and Bobby Jones officiating. Burial was in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mrs. Ayer's grandsons, Earl Ayers, Stacey Ayers, Jeff Ayers, Gary Rice, Brian Hart, and Jimmy Norton.
Memorials may be made to the Holly Springs Baptist Church Family Life Center, c/o Debra Rice, 104 Joe Findley Road, Royston, Georgia 30662.
