Mary Frances Seely was born in Putnam County, Missouri, December 2, 1858, the daughter of George and Sarah Seely and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose Harris 351 North 31th Street, Kansas City, Kansas where she had made her home the past year. She was united in marriage to Sam Carver in the year 1877 (handwritten 1874) and settled near Smithville, Missiuri [sic]. Later they took up homestead near Logan, Kansas in Phillips County. Being well acquainted with the hardships of pioneer life, after a number of years moved back to Clay County, Mo. To this union thirteen children were born, one dying in infancy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Carver who died March 16, 1932; also six children, Mrs Vina Murphy, Mrs Anna Warren, Mr. James Thomas Carver, Mrs. Minnie Mayfield, and Mrs Etta Stanton. Those that remain to mourn this loss are Mrs. Rose Harris of Kansas City, Kansas, Calvin Carver of Norton, Kansas, Rev. Robert Carver of Macksville, Kans. Elmer and Sidney Carver of Logan, Kansas, and Dr. Jerald F. Carver of Independence, Missouri. Mrs. Carver had forty-nine grandchildren, seventy great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren. Grandma Carver, as she was called by most everyone, was a good Christian woman. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church at Logan, Kans. She always enjoyed having her family around her.
