Rose Idaline Baley, 93, a longtime Tuelalke resident, died Nov. 14, 1998 of natural causes in Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Baley was born in Nebraska to John and Mary (Posvar) Sedlacek.

She completed eight years of her education. She married John C. Baley in 1923. In 1930, they moved to the Malin area, where they started a farm on rented ground. Six years later, they bought the Ray Garlick place in the Tulelake area and built a house there.

They purchased 40 cows and kept 150 chickens to supplement their farm income. They sold milk to the Malin Cheese Factory and eggs and fryers to friends and neighbors for Mrs. Baley's "egg money."

She dressed ducks and geese for shipping to bird hunters at the Mallad Duck and Goose Processing Plant in Tulelake for more than 25 years.

She also was a cook's helper in Tulelake school cafeteria.

Amng her interests were gardening and canning, and she won more than 1,000 ribbons at Tulelake-Butte Valley Fairs for her vegetable and fruit canning. She also collected salt and pepper shakers and cups and saucers. She and her husband won many prizes for their dancing. Mrs. Baley was a Tulelake Grange member and a Malin ACBJ Czech Lodge member for more than 40 years, Women of the Moose member for more than 50 years, and a member of the Merrill Moose Drum Corps, Ealges Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Senior Swingers, Tulelake Senior Honkers, and Ramblihng Seniors of Klamath Falls.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Sue Baley and Ed and Pat Baley of Tulelake; son Bill Baley of Tulelake; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Baley of Redding; brother, Emil Sedlacek of Madras; sister, Emma Tlucek of Memphis, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 1, 1972, and a son, John Baley, on Dec. 2, 1994.
