Elizabeth Seddon Fagan, 83, formerly of Hot Springs, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence, KS. She was born December 19, 1926 in San Francisco, where she watched the Golden Gate Bridge rise. She was the second daughter of the late Samuel Venable and Margaret Cameron Seddon. While she was still a little girl, her family moved to a ranch in Smith Valley, Nevada.

A lifelong homemaker, she was married to Colonel John F. "Jack" Fagan, USAF, who preceded her in death in May 2003. Together they traveled from their native California to wherever the Air Force sent them, from the tropical island of Guam to snowy Plattsburgh, New York. Eventually they settled in Hot Springs, Virginia which they considered their true home. In some ways, she had come full circle, as her family has deep roots in the Old Dominion.
Mrs. Fagan was an accomplished cook, painter, seamstress, gardner and avid bridge player. She and Colonel Fagan were active members in the Bath County community, belonging to many civic and social organizations. They both had a special interest in the education of the youth. She also held numerous offices in both the Hot Springs Garden Club and the Warm Springs Valley Garden Club.

She took special delight in annually judging horticulture at the Highland County Fair. She was a member of the Shrine of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hot Springs. She enjoyed traveling and walking the Homestead trails with her beloved CairnTerrier, Haggis, who preceded her in death in 2009.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Seddon.

She is survived by one daughter, Sallie Fagan Bohlen and husband Paul N. Bohlen of Lawrence, Kansas; son James S. Fagan of Merced, California; son John J. Fagan and wife Linda L. Fagan of Alexandria, Virginia; five grandchildren, Kate Hoffman and husband Keith Hoffman of Clay Center, Kansas; David Bohlen and wife Jackie Bohlen of Kashmir, India; Jillian Fagan of Merced, California; Moira and Aileen Fagan of Alexandria, Virginia; and four great grandsons, Mark, Brett, and Drew Hoffman and Simeon Bohlen.

A Memorial Service and reception will be held in Hot Springs in July 2010, with the exact date to be announced.
