Herman Sebelien, 60, passed away Sunday, November 25, 1945, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, after a brief illness.

Visitation will be Monday until 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, at Frick Funeral Home in Durant.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., at the Durant Chapel in Durant. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Herman Sebelien was born July 26, 1885, in Cedar County, the son of Carl and Wilhelmine (Reich) Sebelien. He received his education in the Cedar County schools. He married Lillian Marie (Juel) Pierret in 1937. Together they farmed in Cedar County. Lillian preceded him in death on January 7, 1938. He continued to farm, until he sold the farm in 1942 and moved to Wilton, where he operated a tavern.

Surviving are two brothers, Rudolph (Mary) Sebelien of Stockton and Ernst (Hilda) Sebelien of Bennett; one sister, Anna Vollsen of Davenport; and three brothers-in-law, John Leese of Durant and Byron Soles and Robert Goethe, both of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Caroline Leese; two brothers-in-law, Peter Vollsen and Harry Juel; and two sisters-in-law, Theresa Soles and Gene Goethe.
