Carlette worked at the Huntington County Court House in house keeping for over 10 years. Prior she worked 10 years at the Lincoln Elementary School in food service and Memcor in production department for over 15 years. She graduated in 1968 from Huntington High School and attended Mt. Etna United Methodist Church.

Carlette was born in Huntington, on August 1, 1949 to Alva L. and Mildred E. (Buzzard) Searles.

Survivors include four sisters – Mary Louise Anderson of Huntington, Mable (Bob) Burnsworth of Huntington, Ruth (Maurice) Shenefield of Rochester, Barbara Searles of Mt. Etna, six brothers – Herbert (Neysa) Searles of Lebanon, Glen (Wiladean) Searles of Huntington, Harold "Joe" (Peggy) Searles of Mt. Etna, Roger Searles of Banquo, Ray (Jane) Searles of Bluffton and Gene (Patricia) Searles of Mt. Etna; a sister-in-law - Kim Searles of Greenwood, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin brother, Carl Searles.
