She attended the public schools in Macon. She was employed with the government and worked at Warner Robins Air Force Base. After she retired, she relocated to Sumter and was employed with Exide Battery. She was a foster grandparent at Delaine Elementary School in Sumter School District 2.
She was a member of St. John Baptist Church, Macon, and Historic Liberty Hill AME, Summerton, where she served on the adult choir, missionary, usher and stewardess boards. She was a member of Silver Leaf Chapter No. 333 Order of the Eastern Star, where she served in many capacities and was past matron; a member of C.C. Johnson Assembly No. 1, Order of the Golden Circle; and Cario Court No. 125, Daughter of Isis, Columbia.
She is survived by her husband, Julius Adger Sr. of the home; three sons, Billy Rhynes of Fort Bragg, N.C., Dennis (Cynthia) Searcy of Macon and Fredrick Rhynes of Sumter; one daughter, Bertha Bryant of Sumter; stepson, Julius Adger Jr. of Sumter; three brothers, Bennie Searcy, Wilma Searcy and Jerome Searcy of Macon; two sisters, Joanne (Ralph) Moss and Linda Searcy of Macon; mother-in-law, Janie Adger of Summerton; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Ceremonial rites of Cario Court No. 125 Daughter of Isis, CC Johnson Assembly No. 1 Order of the Golden Circle and Silver Leaf Chapter No. 333 Order of the Eastern Star will be held at the funeral home.
Funeral services held at Historic Liberty Hill AME Church, Summerton, with the pastor, Dr. Leslie Lovett, the Rev. Mitchell Adger, the Rev. Archie S. Temoney and the Rev. Rufus Gaymon.
