RITA SCROGGS CAPO, age 83, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2009 after facing many years of declining health with grace, dignity, and faith. She was a native and longtime resident of Bogalusa and moved to Baker, La. in 1995. She was a well-loved member of Fellowship Baptist Church for the last 3 years. Rita retired in 1987 from the Bogalusa Paper Mill where she had worked for over 40 years. She joined Crown Zellerbach in 1944 as a secretary and in 1975 became the Bogalusa mill's very first woman supervisor. During her many years in Bogalusa she was a faithful member of Union Avenue Baptist Church.
Rita had a charming personality, cheerful disposition, and wonderful sense of humor, and never met a stranger. Even in her failing health she always offered a warm, sincere smile and kind word for everyone who crossed her path. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Capo was preceeded in death by her parents, Roy and Maude Scroggs; her husband of many years, Roy Capo; a brother, Wayne Scroggs; and two sisters, Thelma Scroggs Cutrer and Cleo Scroggs Sticker.

She is survived by her brother, Bordie Scroggs (Evelyn), of Bogalusa; her daughter , Kathy Norton (Danny), of Baker; her son, Chris Capo, of Ocean Springs, MS.; four grandchildren, Stephen Norton (Stephanie), Virginia Bryan (Jason), of Baton Rouge, Amy Norton of Baker, and Eric Capo (Polly) of Rogers, Ark.; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Luke, and Andrew Norton and Lessye Capo; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends, including her dear friend and caregiver, Debra Hymes.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Monday evening, March 2nd from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M., and continue the following morning, Tuesday, March 3rd, at 9:00 A.M. until services at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at the Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa.
