Sarah M. Scott was born near Denison, Kansas, February 18, 1873, died at her home near Birmingham, December 18, 1910, aged 37 years, 10 months. During her late illness her suffering was intense ... She called her two oldest children to her, they knelt by her bedside and with them she prayed her childhood prayer that her mother had taught her. She requested her husband to have their baby baptized and that the children be taught with kind words .... At the age of fifteen Mrs. Akright confessed her faith and united with the United Presbyterian church of North Cedar, now Denison. Having moved to Holton she transferred her membership to the First M. E. church of that place ... she was united in marriage toW. R. Akright May 3rd, 1904. To this union were born three children: Donald, age five; Ora, four and Irma, one. She was one of a family of eight children. The father, mother, and two brothers have preceded her to the better land, leaving two brothers, Omas and Wm. Scott of Denison, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ross, of Whiting, Mrs. Belle Anderson and Miss Jennie Scott of Denison, her husband, three children, besides nephews, nieces ...
